Wootton Creek is a beautiful natural harbor half way between Cowes and Ryde. Previously a bustling trade route for sailing vessels, Wootton Creek has a rich maritime history. Today it's a lovely spot to visit whilst out on the Solent with its impressive wooded valleys and beautiful views.
At the entrance to the Estuary is the Wightlink car ferry with connections to Portsmouth. Just past that, Royal Victoria Yacht Club and then the creek winds inland for around half a mile up to Wootton Bridge.
There aren't too many places to moor up whilst visiting Wootton Creek. In fact, about the only place is Royal Victoria Yacht Club. Just be aware that the northenmost pontoons are private. There is a pretty clear sign that states where the private moorings end and visitor moorings begin. If visiting during summer weekends, it's best to give them a call to reserve a slot on the pontoon. Current fees are £9.50 for a short stay or £3.50 per metre for an overnight stay.

Once moored up in Wootton Creek, there are a few different options to hop off and grab a spot of lunch.
The first would be a visit to the Yacht Club which welcomes visitors to use their facilities and has a well stocked bar and decent food. Through the summer months they are open 7 days a week but don't tend to serve food past 6pm. Keep an eye on their calendar for events such as BBQs, quiz nights and sometimes even live music.
Then there is the Fishbourne Inn as your next option for something to eat and drink. With its wonderful views and tranquile settings, it's a great place to take a break from boating for a few hours.
Finally, further up the Creek near Wootton Bridget is the Sloop Inn. A wide ranging good value menu, including breakfasts, pizza and carvery. It's possible to get this far up in a small dingy but just be sure to time the tide right to avoid being stranded.
Aside from eating, there are some lovely walks too. Around a 30minute walk through the woodland will take you to Quarr Abbey. Which is an impressive active monastery, well worth a look around the grounds and a visit to the farm shop.
For wildlife fans there's usually lots to see too. It's not unusual to see red squirrels as well as various birds of prey.
The entrace to Wootton creek has a variety of hazards. Regular Wightlink ferries make for a busy car ferry port during the day and night. To the east, gravel banks can easily catch you out and to the west are rock ledges pertruding out from the shore. When visiting for the first time, it's best approached during high tide or close to it to give you the maximum space to manover.
